DENVER – February 6, 2016 – Denver Pop Culture Con (DPCC), the multi-media pop culture fan event and program of Pop Culture Classroom designed to help promote literacy through pop culture, today announced the addition of comic book creators John Romita, Jr. and Jim Shooter to their 2016 guest roster.

John Romita Jr. is best known for his extensive work for Marvel Comics from the 1970s to the 2010s. Son of legendary comic book artist John Romita Sr, his early popularity began with his run on Iron Man comic books in the late 70s, and in recent years, collaborated with writer Mark Millar, for a creator-owned series, Kick-Ass, published by Marvel and was later adapted into the 2010 film.

Jim Shooter, an occasional fill-in artist, editor, and publisher for various comic books started his carrier working for DC Comics and was noted for his contributions to their “Legion of Super-Heroes” characters. Later in life, he would work for Marvel Comics as their ninth editor-in-chief, and was one of the founders and the first editor in chief of Valiant Comics.

“We are honored to have these legendary comic book creators as our guests along with other greats like Stan Lee, Trina Robbins and José Delbo,” said Christina Angel, Denver Pop Culture Con director. “Without these legends of the comic book medium, we would not be able to enjoy the many forms of superhero media that exist today.”

DPCC continues to add guests to its 2016 roster. The event will take place June 17-19 at the Colorado Convention Center.
