Running of the Leaves 2015!

Hey, Everypony!

DCC likes to support all our local pop culture con – especially those fillies or foals who are fans of our favorite – My Little Pony!  Make plans to attend the Running of the Leaves Con (http://rotlcon.com/ ) November 6-8, 2015 – at the Holiday Inn Denver East Stapleton, 3333 Quebec Street, Denver.  Make it an overnight (or all weekend) event for the whole family or all your friends, and book a room.  (Insider Fun Fact:  That’s the only way cons like ROTL can afford to exist – if you book rooms at local hotels. So plan a pony party and book now!)

Star Wars Night Pepsi Center 2015

Denver Comic Con and the Colorado Avalanche Join Forces for the 2nd annual Star Wars Night!

If your family celebrations of Wookie Life Day are wearing thin and the mood has become colder than the surface of Hoth, come down and celebrate the 2nd annual Star Wars Night at Pepsi Center with Denver Comic Con and The Colorado Avalanche on December 27th.  Along with special guests arriving from the Star Wars universe, you and your rebel friends will get to watch the Avalanche take on the Phoenix Coyotes in a fun and unique sporting event that is good for the entire family and fans of all ages.

Those who purchase a special Star Wars ticket will get to participate in a very special experience before the game when they get to step out on the ice and hang out with the Imperial Guard from the 501st Legion- Mountain Garrison, which is also affectionately known as “Vader’s Fist” starting at 3:30pm. There will also be photo opportunities with other special guests, so be on the lookout for Sith and Jedi alike.

Doors for the general public will open at 5 pm and all the hockey action kicks off when the game starts at 6pm.  Tickets for the scruffy looking nerfherders among you in lower level are just $30 (normally $41), and the upper and club levels are just $65 (normally $103).  While watching the teams face off, fans will also enjoy music from the Star Wars Universe, character interactions and other fun surprises.

Everyone who purchases a special Star Wars Night Ticket will also get a limited edition, commemorative, Avalanche Star Wars Night puck, and each ticket includes a $5 donation to Denver Comic Con’s parent organization, Pop Culture Classroom.

Tickets for Star Wars Night will go faster than a pod race on Tattooine, so get yours at:

May the force be with you!

UPDATED 10-19-2015 / A NOTE TO ALL AVS SEASON TICKET HOLDERS:  We are currently working on a solution with the AVS that will get all season ticket holders who would like a puck, a puck. Stay tuned.

Denver Days 2015 – EVENT RECAP!

On August 1st, 2015 Pop Culture Classroom participated with Ink Monstr in Mayor Hancock’s city-wide Denver Days initiative.

Denver Days is an initiative created to help neighbors get to know neighbors and get involved with their communities. With the help of several local organizations, Ink Monstr and the Sun Valley Community Coalition coordinated a free block party for Sun Valley residents with the specific goals of providing back to school supplies for neighborhood children and creating a safe, family-fun environment for residents. We provided live music, live art demonstrations, group art activities, bouncy castles, games, food, drinks, community outreach, and gave away over 100 bicycles to Sun Valley youth.

At The Pop Culture Classroom booth we gave away hundreds of all ages comics from Action Lab Entertainment and KABOOM! plus PCC Consulting Artist, Jay Peteranetz provided free sketches for kids.

We plan to make this Denver Days block party an annual event to bring Sun Valley residents together and promote a strong sense of community among neighbors.

Please enjoy and share Ink Monstr’s video recap of the event:
