Claudia McGivney is the Head of Academic Engagement for Stony Brook University Libraries. She holds a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from Long Island University, C.W. Post, a Master of Arts from Hofstra University with a concentration on the female warrior archetype, and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Literacy at Hofstra University. She has previously taught “The Hero in Literature” using graphic novels and manga, and frequently incorporates graphic literature into her information literacy courses. Her research interests include reflective practice, information literacy, and the use of anime and graphic literature in higher education.
