Marla Conn is a reading/literacy specialist and an Educational Consultant. After receiving a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education/Reading N-12 in 1991, she became a reading specialist in the New York City public school system where she taught for 15 years. While there, she worked with teachers on staff development, instructing them in the Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading approach and balanced literacy classroom instruction. Marla advised teachers on how to choose appropriate reading materials and properly assign Guided Reading levels to books. For nearly 30 years she has been helping struggling readers build literacy skills that enable them to become confident learners. In 2008 she launched Read-Ability Inc. As part of her program she assigns Guided Reading levels, makes curriculum connections, organizes book collections for classroom market through catalog development, creates Teacher Guides, and aligns books to the Common Core, TEKS and Next Generation Science Standards.
