Doctor Who’s River Song and Clara Oswald at 2016 Denver Pop Culture Con
Fan-favorite “companions” from the popular sci-fi, fantasy television series to appear at annual event
DENVER – February 2, 2016 – Denver Pop Culture Con (DPCC), the multi-media pop culture fan event and program of Pop Culture Classroom designed to help promote literacy through pop culture, announces today that actresses Alex Kingston and Jenna Coleman will be guests at their next event.
Alex Kingston is a British film and television veteran who first became familiar to American audiences from her portrayal of Dr. Elizabeth Corday on NBC’s drama “ER,” which ultimately led to her being cast as River Song on British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) “Doctor Who.
Jenna Coleman is a British film and television actress known for her role as Clara Oswald, also a major character on BBC’s “Doctor Who.”
Since Doctor Who’s first broadcast on BBC in 1963, there have been many actors who have played the alien time-travelling hero, and along with them were associated characters called “companions” who assist him in the adventures and serve as a human point of view.
“But companions starring with more than one version of the Doctor are rare,” said Christina Angel, Denver Pop Culture Con director. “Both River and Clara resonate with ‘Who’ fans old and new because of their multiple appearances with Doctors David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi.”
DPCC continues to add guests to its 2016 roster. The event will take place June 17-19 at the Colorado Convention Center.
