Kids’ Lab Schedule – 2021 FAN EXPO Denver: SPECIAL EDITION

The Pop Culture Classroom Kids’ Lab is an interactive, family-friendly, educational space dedicated to pop culture enthusiasts of all ages. Located on the show floor of SPECIAL EDITION, the Kids’ Lab provides opportunities for families and fans to engage with diverse pop culture-based media and activities and highlights the value of teaching pop culture education in the 21st century.

4:00:00 PM 4:50:00 PM Clang!: Metallurgy in Pop Culture From vibranium to adamantium to carbonite, pop culture is full of fictional metals. In this session, discover the links between fictional and real metals.
5:00:00 PM 5:45:00 PM Wizarding Sorting Ceremony Experience Are you courageous or clever? Kind or cunning? Come and find out where the Sorting Hat will place you in our Sorting Ceremony! This activity is an interactive experience where participants will have the chance to sit under the Sorting Hat and discover their wizarding house. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sign-ups will begin 45 minutes before the experience starts, near the Kids’ Lab Stage.

Learn from Pop Culture Classroom’s instructors how to use Twine, a free brower-based tool, to create your own playable and interactive stories with branching narratives.

3:30:00 PM 4:20 PM Geeky Groves Our goal is to bring dance to our fellow nerds who are eager to experience something new! In this workshop you’ll learn some basic moves in common Latin dances like salsa and bachata, with videogame remixed songs! By combining our love of dance and all things nerdy, we hope to introduce a new way to connect, not only to other people but to other cultures and ways of life!
