Persepolis is Marjane Satrapi’s memoir of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. The reader is given a first-hand glimpse into the devastating effects of war, and the true results of revolution. Volume one chronicles Satrapi’s life in Tehran from ages six to fourteen, and the reader gets to watch her grow up at the same time as her country embarks on its own transformation.
