During Pop Culture Classroom’s summer camps, students can learn about creating comics and board games, the basics of cosplay and costuming, interactive storytelling, and more.

Comic Book Camp

For Ages 10-14 years

July 10-14 (10:00 am -4:00 pm)

Explore comics and manga to create your own comics through storytelling and art techniques. Get creative and dream up your own superheroes, villains and fantasy creatures. Tell the stories of the crazy adventures they go on in your very own comic book! You’ll work with experienced artists and comic book writers. By the end of the camp, each camper will have their own original 4-page finished comic book!

Registration is not open until April.

Comic Book Camp

For Ages 8-12 years

July 17-21 (9:00 am- 3:00 pm)

Comic Book Mini Camp

For Ages 8-12 years

Students will learn comic book basics, explore some graphic novels as examples  and learn how to layout their own  6-12 panel comic (1-2 pages) on the theme “Cultivate Kindness”.

Worldbuilding for Fantasy and Sci-Fi Camp

For Ages 11-15 years

July 24-28 (1:30pm-4:30 pm )

“Who doesn’t love getting lost in fictional worlds like the Star Wars Universe or the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? In this collaborative creative summer camp, students will learn the process of building their own Fantasy or Sci-Fi world and applying them to creative writing, art projects, cosplay, and mini models. If you love to write your own stories, draw crazy creatures, or imagine yourself as the hero (or villain!) on an epic quest, this camp has something for you! Join us to explore the worlds in your own imagination and bring them to life with Pop Culture Classroom this summer!”

Interactive Branching Narratives with Twine

Anythink Library: Wright Farms

Create an interactive branching narrative experience similar to ” Choose- Your-Own- Adventure” books or games like “Minecraft: Story Mode” .  Students learn how to use basic HTML coding to make playable non-linear narrative adventures. The library will provide internet connected computers or laptops for workshop participants.
