Excellence in Graphic Literature Jury Chairs and Advisory Board Member
Jury Chairs/Advisory Board members are responsible for refining and overseeing all aspects of the Excellence in Graphic Literature (EGL) Awards, overseeing aspects of the judging process relative to their assigned category, managing jurors in their assigned category, reading and evaluating all submitted books in their assigned category, and participating in the Book of the Year and Mosaic Awards selection process.
EGL Jury Chair/Advisory Board member positions are for industry leaders with demonstrated and extensive track records representing, but not limited to:
- Education Member-At-Large
- Publishing or Bookselling Member-At-Large
- Library Member-At-Large
- Inclusivity/Diversity Member-At-Large
Excellence in Graphic Literature Awards – Juror
Category Jurors are responsible for reading and evaluating all submitted books in their assigned category.
EGL Jurors are experienced professionals who span the publishing, library, and education industries. Their ultimate goal is to select the best in fiction & nonfiction graphic literature published during the calendar year in their assigned category.

Juror and Advisory Board applications for the 2024 Excellence in Graphic Literature Awards will open Monday, January 22, and will close Monday, February 19th.
2024 EGL Awards Timeline
Dates subject to change:
- January 22, 2024: Book submissions and juror applications open
- February 19, 2024: Juror applications close
- February 21-23, 2024: Juror applicants notified of acceptance decisions
- March 1, 2024: Book submissions Close
- March 11th, 2024: Category jurying begins
- May 5, 2024: Category jurying ends
- May 10, 2024: Finalists selected; Book of the Year (BOTY) and Mosaic Awards judging process begins
- June 3, 2024: Begin Finalist announcements, BOTY and Mosaic judging process ends
- June 10, 2024: Begin Winner announcements
- July 4th – July 7th, 2024: FAN EXPO Denver (EGL panels, Educators’ Day presence)
- June 2024 – December 2024: Ongoing promotion of awards
