Education Nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom Invites Educators and Community Presenters!
Starting today, teachers, librarians, and other educators can sign up for a free day of pop culture immersion and professional development at Pop Culture Classroom’s Educators’ Day at FAN EXPO Denver on Friday, July 1.
“FAN EXPO Denver is an incredible, once-a-year opportunity to link the pop culture we all know and love with educational engagement,” said Adam Kullberg, the group’s interim Executive Director, in prepared remarks. “Pop Culture Classroom is excited to bring students and educators to this year’s event, and work with community partners to offer them a summer learning experience you won’t find anywhere else.”
Free Educators’ Day (Friday, July 1)
Current Colorado educators can participate in educational sessions and activities that highlight the benefits and practical applications of pop culture in the classroom, learn how they can improve their craft using pop culture media and other tools, and connect with other educators from across Colorado.
Educators’ Day attendees can expect a day full of specially curated panel sessions presented by Pop Culture Classroom, free access to the FAN EXPO Denver show floor, and more. Sessions from previous years include:
- Teaching Historical Inquiry with Pop Culture
- Fandom as Pedagogy: Geeking Up Your Classroom
- Local History with Dungeons and Dragons
- Anime Goes to College
- Ping Me: How Competitive Gaming Teams Use High-Performance Language
- Social/Emotional Learning with Graphic Novels
- Video Games as 21st Century Literature

Applications for Pop Culture Classroom’s Educators’ Day at FAN EXPO Denver are now closed. Educational Programming at FAN EXPO Denver
Pop Culture Classroom today also opened applications for those wishing to offer educational presentations throughout the event to teachers, kids, and families, inviting other community groups and pop culture experts in the community to contribute panels and presentations for the event.

Today’s announcements from Pop Culture Classroom build on earlier news about the group’s educational programming FAN EXPO Denver. Earlier this month, Pop Culture Classroom opened applications for its free Experience the Comics program for students and opportunities for community partners to participate in Pop Culture Classroom’s Kids’ Lab and All-Age Stage on the main show floor of FAN EXPO Denver.
The educational programs add to FAN EXPO Denver’s announced attractions, which include cosplay, gaming booths, hard-to-find collectibles, and scheduled appearances by comics authors, anime voice actors, and cast members from The Lord of the Rings movies, The Mandalorian, Harry Potter and more.
