On August 1st, 2015 Pop Culture Classroom participated with Ink Monstr in Mayor Hancock’s city-wide Denver Days initiative.
Denver Days is an initiative created to help neighbors get to know neighbors and get involved with their communities. With the help of several local organizations, Ink Monstr and the Sun Valley Community Coalition coordinated a free block party for Sun Valley residents with the specific goals of providing back to school supplies for neighborhood children and creating a safe, family-fun environment for residents. We provided live music, live art demonstrations, group art activities, bouncy castles, games, food, drinks, community outreach, and gave away over 100 bicycles to Sun Valley youth.
At The Pop Culture Classroom booth we gave away hundreds of all ages comics from Action Lab Entertainment and KABOOM! plus PCC Consulting Artist, Jay Peteranetz provided free sketches for kids.
We plan to make this Denver Days block party an annual event to bring Sun Valley residents together and promote a strong sense of community among neighbors.
