Pop Culture Classroom’s Laboratory STEAMs forward at Denver Pop Culture Con 2015
The Pop Culture Classroom Laboratory is excited to give an exclusive sneak-peak of its programming at this year’s Denver Pop Culture Con! With all-new activities focused around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math), visitors of all ages will have the chance to create everything from scale models to glitter tornadoes to their very own superhero costumes. The PCC Lab will also feature engaging discussions and presentations from scientists, artists, writers and voice actors.
Thanks to an increased space and expanded focus, this year’s PCC Lab will be split into 7 exciting areas—each featuring their own unique activities centered around STEAM and pop culture topics.
In the All Ages Crafts Area, students will ignite their imaginations and learn about subjects such as chemistry, mathematics and aerodynamics through fun activities like mixing galaxy goo, building suspension bridges and making the world’s best superhero paper airplanes! This area will also feature plenty of DIY Crafts so kids can create their very own super hero outfits—complete with masks and shields!
For older students, the Teen Craft Area will feature more advanced model-building and even a stop-motion animation activity for aspiring engineers, artists and new media enthusiasts.
At the first-ever Barry Allen’s Forensics Lab, visitors will don their detective caps and play Sherlock Holmes for the day. This means dusting for fingerprints, investigating bite marks, and searching for clues scattered throughout the PCC Lab in order to apprehend villains.
Be sure to visit the All Ages Stage for tons of special guests, including comic book artists, writers, voice actors and perhaps a surprise celebrity along the way. Whether you want to learn how to draw your own comic or hear how your favorite cartoon characters get their voices, this is the place to be!
The Community Square will showcase organizations with interests that span from baseball infields to the farthest reaches of outer space. Come participate in fun activities and learn about all that Colorado has to offer in this unique space.
After its first successful year, the 8-Bit Lounge is back and more geek-tastic than ever. Want to grill a game developer on what it takes to make your very own game? Learn about the newest indie comics? Create your very own graffiti art? Then be sure to stop by and check out all that the Lounge has to offer!
Finally, to learn about all it takes to put these fun and diverse areas together, come to the Pop Culture Classroom Info Booth, where you will find out about PCC’s curriculum, Storytelling Through Comics, and our many workshops, events, and activities going on all throughout the year.
Other exciting PCC Lab features include:
- A Green Screen and dress-up area where students can transform into their favorite comic book, sci-fi, and cartoon characters.
- Face Painting and Balloon Shaping Specialist
- Plus tons of other fun surprises along the way!
